The governor, during the visit today, November 25th, 2024, to the Forward Operating Base in Bagana, said it is the commitment of his administration to securing the lives and properties of Kogi State residents.
Governor Ododo praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the establishment of the FOB, which has significantly improved security in Bagana and its environs. The governor acknowledged the collaborative efforts of security agencies in restoring peace to the area.
The crisis between Agatu and suspected herdsmen from Benue State had led to the displacement of thousands of people in Bagana and the destruction of properties worth billions of naira.
However, with the establishment of the FOB, the community is gradually returning to normalcy.
Residents of Bagana, including Apostle Peace Peter Simion and Chief Halimat Abu, have expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his decisive actions in restoring peace to the community. They have also appealed to the state government to prioritize the rebuilding of affected communities and provide basic healthcare, Market, and educational facilities.
Recall that the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication Hon Kinsley Fanwo in a Press Release on 15-10-2024 noted that the high level of insecurity in Omala and the neighboring Local Government Areas in Kogi East informed the decision of the State Government to request for the establishment of the FOB to combat crime and make criminality a thing of the past in the area.
“As a responsible and responsive Governor, the Chief Servant of Kogi State has taken the right decision to restore security and normalcy to the Eastern part of Kogi State where many lives were lost to insecurity” he said.
The commander of 12 Brigade, Brigadier O.A Fadairo, appreciated Gov Ododo for creating an enabling environment for the FOB to operate properly.
Today, normalcy has returned to the deserted town of Bagana, and marketing operations have fully commenced.

The union must boldly stand against the increasing gagging of journalists in Nigeria, which undermines not only the journalism profession but also the country’s democracy and fundamental human rights.
In this regard, “the NGIJ draws the attention of the new NUJ executive to the troubling case of four journalists currently incarcerated at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for nearly two months over a cyberstalking matter involving the Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) and its Group CEO, Mr. Segun Agbaje.
“The union must see this as a clarion call to resist such affronts to the press and demand the immediate release of these journalists.”
The NGIJ remains confident that Comrade Yahaya and his team will deliver a progressive and impactful tenure. We assure the NUJ of our continued collaboration in promoting investigative journalism and defending the noble ideals of the press.
